Amy Coulton of the Nelson Swimming Club brought home gold medals in the 200m Freestyle and 400m Freestyle for 14-year-old girls at the national Division II meet held in Dunedin last week.
Coulton also won a silver medal in the 800m Free with her time of 9:46.61, knocking a massive 21 seconds off her time and setting a Nelson-Marlborough record for 14-year-old girls.
Of the SNM swimmers, 13-year-old Oriana Houra from Blenheim took home the most medals, winning silver in four events: 50m and 100m Breaststroke, 100m Butterfly and 100m Individual Medley for 13-year-old girls. Oriana's time in the 100m Fly was a 10 second improvement over her previous best.
Libby Gray (14) from Nelson South Swimming won silver in the 50m Free, while Pippa Cornish (17) from Nelson got silver in the 50m Breast.
Bronze medals went to Brittany Spencer (17) of Nelson Swimming in the 50 Breast and 200 Breast (9 sec PB); Kirsten Walker (14) of Motueka in the 200m Breast with a 10.76 sec PB; and Kyle Whyte (16) of Nelson South in the 100m Fly with a 2.5 second PB.
Other local swimmers who made finals included Zoe Borrell, Ellie Gaging, Jake Hogg, and Jacob Johnston, all from Nelson Swimming Club.
