Sam McKenzie gets more gold
Sam McKenzie of Nelson Swimming Club sliced more than a second off his personal best time to win gold in the 50m butterfly in the boys 13 & under age group at the South Island Championships held over the weekend in Timaru. McKenzie swam another personal best in the 100m freestyle to take home bronze in that event.
Oriana Houra of Blenheim made five finals in the girls 13 & under age group, winning two bronze medals, one fourth place and two sixth places.
Meanwhile, Clara Foster of Nelson South Swimming Club was among the top 12-year-olds in the 13 & under age group, finishing 4th in the 50m breaststroke and 6th in the 100m breaststroke.
Toby Lloyd, Sally McMath and Nick Kerry of Blenheim also represented the Nelson Marlborough region at the meet, Lloyd and McMath making finals.
