Registration

Swimmers who wish to compete in inter-club swimming meets are required to register with Swimming New Zealand as either a club swimmer or competitive swimmer.

To compete in regional, South Island and national meets, a swimmer must be a registered competitive swimmer.

A swimmer who is competing only in inter-school meets, such as the Tasman or South Island Secondary School Swimming Champs, can register as a school swimmer.

To register, club or competitive swimmers must join one of the local swimming clubs. If you have questions please contact the Regional Registrar. School swimmers can register via the regional registrar when they enter a school meet.

Registration fees

SNZ registration fees for 2018-19 are $95.00 per competitive swimmer and $15.25 for club swimmers, for the period 1 July to 30 June. There is also a $5 equipment levy from Swimming Nelson Marlborough. These fees are additional to club membership subscriptions and fees. There are no fees for school swimmers.

Of the SNZ registration fee for competitive swimmers, $35 goes to Swimming Nelson Marlborough to support competitive swimming in our region.

Technical officials must also be registered with SNZ. The fee is $15 and is paid by Swimming Nelson Marlborough for 2018-19. This is subject to review each year.

Transfers

If you wish to transfer to a new club, please ask your club secretary to initiate a transfer on the SNZ database. Swimmers must have paid all amounts owing to their existing club before they are eligible to transfer.

Resources for Clubs

Link to SNZ resources for clubs

Use the above link to go to the Swimming New Zealand Website to obtain resources for your club such as:

  • SNZ membership form – the latest version

  • New club application form – for new clubs applying for membership

  • Constitution – a template for clubs to use if they wish

  • Coaching agreement – a template for clubs to use if they wish

To transfer to a new club, a swimmer must ask their club to initiate a transfer on the SNZ database. The transfer is not complete until it has been approved by both clubs and the regional administrator.

SNZ Membership form - All club members must complete the SNZ membership form and submit it to their club secretary, who must then load the details on the SNZ database.

The New Zealand Swimmers Trust assists athletes who have the potential to represent their country, through competitive grants that are awarded annually.

Swimming Nelson Marlborough also has a Swimmers Fund, which awards grants to swimmers who represent the region at national meets and swim camps. Applications are due by 31 May each year. See the last schedule of the SNM Standing Orders for details.

Team Manager responsibilities at National and South Island meets - These guidelines describe the duties of the regional team manager and club team managers at meets outside the region.

MEMBER PROTECTION POLICY - UPDATED MARCH 2021

Swimming Nelson Marlborough (SNM) is committed to following Swimming New Zealand’s Member Protection Policy.

This Member Protection Policy is set out HERE and all members are required to be aware of the policy and adhere to its contents. As of March 2021, Swimming New Zealand has also introduced a "Police Vetting and Policy Process" guideline which can be seen HERE.

SNM has advised all Clubs to publish information regarding this policy on their websites, so it is easily accessible by swimmers and their families.

Swimming New Zealand have advised they have appointed a dedicated Child Protection Adviser to deal with all matters related to Child Protection and Safety and they can be reached at mpa@swimming.org.nz.

Please contact Lowri McNabb with any requests for additional information on this matter.
